Beating Mental Blocks in the Snatch and Clean & Jerk
Tomorrow we'll be testing out a 1RM Squat Clean. As we know, the Olympic lifts are the most technical lifts we practice in CrossFit and as such, they can be the most frustrating and mentally challenging. One subtle mistake can lead to a missed lift, and as Greg mentions in his article, there is so often a certain weight that creates a mental block for us. No matter what we do, that number seems impossible to overcome.
In this timely article, he presents several different strategies to overcome that block and push past the barrier preventing new PRs. These strategies include progressive waves, unusual weights, unit confusion (!) and baby steps.
When you're testing out tomorrow, try implementing these effective strategies and let's see the result. You'll see on the minute work and Olympic complexes next cycle, so be sure to record your results so that you can incrementally creep past those hurdles!
