The CrossFit Journal - Arthritis: You've Got to Keep Moving

A good article in The CrossFit Journal this month about joint arthritis and the benefit of exercising through a full range of motion, written by Dr. Sean Rockett - an Orthopedic surgeon.

Do you know someone hesitant to start CrossFit because of joint aches and pains? Chances are they'll feel better, not worse, by exercising. As the article states, anything can be modified based on the individual. Move it or lose it!
Dr. Rockett states:
CrossFit is perfect for people with arthritic joints because it pushes joint range of motion and also strengthens the muscles around those joints. For example, arthritic knees, ankles and hips will benefit from work on air squats.
Trainers can modify the CrossFit program for people with any condition, to help them keep moving in some way. Ceasing to exercise because of arthritis in one joint is not a wise decision, and those with arthritis are encouraged to work with doctors, care providers and trainers to find a way to stay active.
Bell City CrossFit also offers Personal Training for those hesitant to jump right into Fundamentals or CrossFit Group classes. Take time to understand proper movement and appropriate scaling options for you!
